GongEngage

Connect Gong so Breakout can analyze calls, transcripts, users, stats, and, where enabled, use Gong Engage flow capabilities.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm whether your workspace uses Gong OAuth or Gong access-key credentials. The card shows the active mode for your workspace.

  • For Gong Engage workflows that need to resolve contacts, choose the CRM that should be treated as the source of truth, usually HubSpot or Salesforce. Connect that CRM before using Gong Engage workflows.

Supported authentication methods

Method

What you do

OAuth sign-in

Approve Gong access in a provider approval window and select a preferred CRM if requested

Access-key credentials

Enter Gong access-key details, Gong API base URL, and preferred CRM if requested

Permissions requested for OAuth sign-in

Gong permission

Why Breakout needs it

api:users:read

Read Gong users for ownership, matching, and workflow context

api:permission-profile:read

Check permission profiles and available capabilities

api:flows:read

Read Gong Engage flows before enrolling or managing prospects

api:flows:write

Enroll or manage prospects in Gong flows when approved workflows require it

api:mcp:server

Enable Gong server-side workflow access used by connected automation

Access key permissions

The access key flow does not request OAuth scopes. Access is controlled by the Gong access key, access key secret, API base URL, and the Gong admin permissions behind those credentials.

Allowing Breakout to access Gong

  1. Click your name to navigate to Settings

  2. Click Integrations and then toggle the switch on in the Apollo card.

The Gong approval window opens. The window may show a credential form or an OAuth-style connection, depending on your workspace configuration. Depending on the type of card that opens, use one of the following methods:

Using the OAuth method

If the Gong card opens OAuth:

  1. Select the preferred CRM if the card asks for it.

  2. Allow the Gong approval window to open.

  3. Sign in to Gong.

  4. Approve the requested permissions.

  5. Return to Breakout and wait for the Gong card to show as connected.

Using the access key credentials method

If the Gong card shows a credential form, ask a Gong administrator for the access-key details and enter:

Field

What to enter

Access Key

The Gong access key.

Access Key Secret

The matching secret.

Gong API Base URL

The Gong API base URL for your company, for example https://company.api.gong.io.

Preferred CRM

HubSpot or Salesforce, if requested.

Submit the form. Return to Breakout and wait for the Gong integration to show as Connected. It may take a few minutes for the status to update on the Integrations page.

  • If the Gong approval window closes but the integration still doesn't show as connected, refresh the Integrations page.

  • If Gong still appears as Disconnected, reconnect the integration and make sure you complete the Gong approval process successfully.

Verifying the connection

  • The Gong card should show as connected. Test with a read-only workflow that lists calls, users, or stats before running workflows that change external state.

  • If Engage or prospect sync fails, confirm that the preferred CRM is connected and that matching contacts exist in the CRM.

Disconnecting or reconnecting Gong

Disconnect in these cases:

  • While rotating Gong credentials

  • Changing the connected Gong account

  • Changing the preferred CRM

Reconnect with the updated values.
